  • strabismus
    Misaligned eyes.  In some countries, the term squint is used instead.
  • tonometer
    A device used to measure intraocular pressure. 
  • visual evoked potential test
    A test that uses electrodes taped to the scalp to determine if the message from the eye has been received by the brain and whether or not that message is normal.  Sometimes referred to as a VEP test.
  • vitreous humor
    The jelly-like substance that fills the area between the retina and the back of the lens (posterior segment).  Often shortened to vitreous.
  • YAG laser
    A type of laser used to remove membranes or scar tissue that can sometimes form on the back of an IOL, or even without an IOL, after cataract surgery.
